A Weekend with the British Vespa Club
This weekend I swapped four wheels for two and headed to Stirling Rugby Club for the British Vespa Days 2025 rally, hosted by the Vespa Club of Britain.
It was fantastic to see so many scooters from across the country, catch up with friends old and new, and enjoy a weekend away from lessons. The highlight for us was seeing my wife’s 1956 Vespa 42L2 win Best Pre-1960 in the custom show, a well-deserved result for such a characterful machine.
Of course, I had my scooter there too – though at 2003 it’s a relative youngster compared to hers!
Events like this remind me why road awareness is so important. Scooters, motorbikes, and bicycles are all part of our road network, and as drivers it’s easy to overlook them. That’s why observation and scanning skills form such a key part of the way I teach, it’s not just about passing a test, it’s about building safe habits for life.
Thanks to the Vespa Club of Britain for organising such a fantastic weekend – we’re already looking forward to the next one.
