how to guide for navigating Craigs Roundabout in Stirling

Cracking Craigs Roundabout – A Guide for Learners in Stirling

Ask any learner in Stirling what worries them most, and Craigs Roundabout will almost certainly come up. For years it has struck fear into the hearts of drivers – honking horns are practically its soundtrack, and hitting it at rush hour means creeping to the give way line at a snail’s pace. There’s nearly always someone who ends up in the wrong lane, begging to move across.

With six exits and up to three lanes, Craigs is one of the trickiest roundabouts for new drivers to tackle. It’s also unavoidable, a connecting route for shops, supermarkets, garages, and the city centre.

That’s why I’ve spent time creating a detailed step-by-step illustrated guide to help learners build confidence before they get there.

The guide includes:

  • Direction signs (green for primary routes, white for local routes, and blue for motorways)
  • Road markings and give way lines
  • Colour-coded cars to show which lane to use for each exit
  • Indicator use for clarity
  • Diagonal white lines (hatched markings) explained
  • Clear guides beneath each road sign for easy reference

This isn’t about memorising every arrow – it’s about understanding how the roundabout works so you can make safe, confident choices on the day.

The full resource will be available as an A4 PDF booklet (around 6–8 pages, with each route shown separately). For now, I’ll be making it available exclusively for my pupils preparing for tests in Stirling. To request your copy drop me a message – 0795 1198 667
