At Blackwood School of Motoring, lessons are offered on a one-to-one basis and structured to suit learners who want to build their understanding progressively and drive confidently beyond the test.

Ongoing Lessons
Pay-As-You-Go Lessons
Suitable for new learners or those building skills gradually. Lessons are booked regularly and paced according to progress.
- 1 Hour Lesson – £40
- 1.5 Hour Lesson – £60
Why We Don’t Offer 2-Hour Lessons
We’ve found that for most learners, concentration and retention drop after around 90 minutes. One-hour and 90-minute sessions allow steady progress without overload, and help keep learning focused and effective.
Getting Started or Returning
Taster Lesson
New to driving, or unsure if John’s the right fit for you? Try a one-off taster session to get a feel for the car, the teaching style, and what to expect.
- 1 Hour Taster Lesson – £40
Assessment Drive
If you’ve had previous driving experience (with an instructor, family or friends), an assessment drive offers a relaxed way to check your current standard.
- 1.5 Hour Assessment Drive – £60
Licence Holders
Refresher Lessons
Ideal for full licence holders who haven’t driven for a while or are getting used to a new car. These longer sessions are tailored to rebuild confidence.
- 2 Hour Refresher Lesson – £80
- 4 Hour Refresher Lesson – £160
Intensive & Semi-Intensive Courses
Short on time or want to fast-track your progress?
We offer fully-structured intensive and semi-intensive driving courses across Fife. These require a minimum of 4 weeks’ notice and a deposit to secure your place.
