LESSONS
In requesting lessons, the pupil agrees that they are licensed to drive the tuition vehicle. The pupil must produce their provisional driving licence before being permitted to drive. The pupil must inform the instructor immediately if their entitlement to drive changes..
Lessons are one-hour long, unless otherwise agreed.
The instructor will carry motor insurance covering the pupil whilst driving the tuition vehicle, when accompanied by and ADI instructor or DVSA examiner.
Where the pupil provides a tuition vehicle, the pupil is responsible for providing adequate insurance cover for third party liability, and must provide written proof.
To allow for unavoidable delays or unfavourable circumstances, pupils must be prepared to begin their lesson ten minutes before or after their allocated time. If the instructor is going to be more than ten minutes late or early, they will be in contact by text/telephone call to advise of such.
If a pupil is more than 10 (ten) minutes late for their allocated lesson, the lesson will be cancelled and the pupil will be liable for the fee in respect of said lesson.
The instructor shall have the right to substitute another suitable instructor for the purposes of giving all or any of the lessons if the instructor is not available for any reason. In the event that the instructor is unable to substitute another suitable instructor for a specific appointment, the instructor reserves the right to re-arrange the lesson at a time convenient to both parties.
Should a pupil wish to take an intensive or semi-intensive style course, a minimum notice of 12 weeks is required. Intensive courses consist of thirty hours tuition. Semi-intensive courses consist of fifteen hours tuition.
In the event of a mechanical breakdown or unforeseen circumstances, the instructor reserves the right to cancel / re-arrange the lesson at a time convenient to both parties.
If the instructor believes the pupil to be under the influence of alcohol or any other substance which may impair driving, the lesson will be terminated immediately and the pupil will be liable for the fee in respect of said lesson.
PRACTICAL DRIVING TEST
No pupil will be presented for their practical test unless their instructor feels that they are fully prepared. (This also applies to re-tests)
Tuition will not be provided to pupils who have booked their practical test without the prior agreement.
In the event of you having booked your driving test, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) requires you to give three clear working days to cancel your test. This may mean that you may lose your DVSA test fee if your instructor says you’re not ready for your test within this three-day notice period.
In the interests of customer and public safety your instructor reserves the right to withhold the use of a car for the test if, in their opinion, your driving is actually or potentially dangerous.
Blackwood School of Motoring does not accept liablity for any financial costs incurred by the pupil In the event of a breakdown either during a lesson or a practical driving test.
PAYMENT, PRE-PAID TUITION & GIFT VOUCHERS
All lessons must be paid for in full, no less than 24 (twenty four) hours in advance of their scheduled lesson. Blackwood School of Motoring reserves the right to cancel lessons and withdraw offers of further instruction to pupils who pay fees late.
Blackwood School of Motoring reserves the right to request a non-refunable deposit payable at the time of booking a lesson.
Payment shall be made in full for intensive / semi-intensive courses at the time of the booking.
Gift vouchers, block bookings and other forms of pre-paid tuition are valid for a maximum of three months from date of purchase or their ‘valid from’ date. If a pupil is unable to start taking/complete their driving lessons within the stated three month time-frame, they must contact Blackwood School of Motoring within the three month time period, or the voucher/ block booking / pre-paid lessons will become void.
Gift vouchers have no monetary value and will only be accepted after verification by Blackwood School Of Motoring.
CANCELLATION POLICY
A MINIMUM OF 48 (FORTY-EIGHT) HOURS NOTICE TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE ANY LESSON IS REQUIRED. If you want to cancel a lesson, a minimum of 48 hours’ prior notice must be given. If a lesson is cancelled or rescheduled less than 48 hours before, you (the pupil) will be liable for the lesson fee in respect of said lesson. You (the pupil) will not be considered for any futher lessons until all outstanding fees are paid in full. Cancellations made by you must be confirmed by Blackwood School of Motoring no less than 48 hours before the scheduled lesson.
If the pupil cancels short-term (outwith the minimum 48 hours required) or does not attend two consecutive lessons, the pupil shall be held liable for the lesson fees for both lessons, and the pupil will no longer be considered for instruction by any Blackwood School Of Motoring instructor.
REFUNDS
If a deal which has included any discount is terminated by the pupil before completion of said deal (including pre-paid driving tuition, block bookings & gift vouchers), then the lessons completed by the pupil will be charged at the full hourly rate, with any refund applied to the remaining amount.
In the event of any pre-paid driving tuition purchased, started, but not completed within three months (and unless instructor and pupil have agreed to delay / pause outstanding lessons), no refunds will be given.
All refunds will be at the discretion of Blackwood School of Motoring and may be subject to an administration charge.
Please Note: Blackwood School of Motoring staff have the right to be treated with courtesy and respect. The use of inappropriate words or behaviour causing distress and/or constituting harassment will not be tolorated. This includes receipt of abusive telephone calls or texts from any source. Inappropriate behaviour will result in pupils being no longer considered for further tuition with any outstanding lessons being cancelled immediately and without notice.
These terms and conditions take effect from 17th May 2022 and replace with immediate effect all previous Blackwood School Of Motoring terms and conditions whether written in print, sent digitally via text and email, or agreed verbally.
